Had Andrew's lads in to do new fencing along the side and rear, and a fresh lawn put down. The fence is solid, well-finished, and the lawn has taken nicely. One small corner near the gate coud have been tidied up a bit more, but nothing major. Fair enough.
Squeezed the whole thing in between work calls and the school run and Andrew's crew just got on with it — patio looks brilliant.
Clean finish. Punctual crew. Looks miles better than before. Only gripe is it took a day longer than quoted. Would use again.
We'd been meaning to get the back sorted for years, if I'm honest. The old concrete steps down from the kitchen door were cracked and uneven, and the patio area — if you could even call it that — was a mix of random flagstones we'd laid ourselves about fifteen years ago. Half of them had sunk, the whole thing was a mess. A neighbour of mine over in Bansha got some work done a couple of summers back by a different crowd and was left with a patio that started lifting within the year. That put me off for a while, I won't lie. Then someone recommended Andrew and Emerald Driveways. The difference was night and day. The lads came in, knew exactly what they were doing, the new steps are solid and level, and the patio looks like it belongs on the house rather than being an afterthought. Neat, tidy, no mess left behind. Would use them again without a second thought.
My neighbour used a different crowd last year and honestly it looked rough within months! Got emerald driveways in and the difference is night and day! Andrew and the lads were so sound, had it done in no time and the gravel looks class! Genuinely obsessed with how tidy it came out! Would 100% recommend them over anyone else around Tipp!
Straightforward enough job until they lifted the old slabs and found the base underneath had shifted badly — previous work, not theirs. Andrew flagged it, gave me the options, added a day to sort it properly. No drama, fair cost adjustment. Patio looks well and is actually level this time. Did what they said, when they said. Would recommend.
If you are looking for someone you can genuinely trust with your home, Andrew and the lads at Emerald Drives are who I would point you to, no hesitation whatsoever. My mother is 78 and lives with me, and having contractors around the house is always a source of anxiety for both of us. Not this time. The whole experience, from getting the quote to watching them pack up on the last day, was just an absoloute relief. The driveway looks better than it ever has, honestly. I would not hesitate to use them again, and I have already passed their number on to my sister.
Andrew's crew did a patio at one of my rental properties in Tipp — showed up when they said they would, finished on time, and it doesnt look like a budget job.
The driveway at this house has seen better days for the past twenty years, so it was well overdue. Andrew sent out two lads, Ciarán and one other, and the finish they left behind is very smooth and neat right up to the edges. My daughter was down with the grandchildren at the weekend and they were delighted with it for cycling. I would have no hesitation recommending Emerald Driveways to anyone.
If I'm being honest, the reason I'd point anyone towards Emerald before I even get into the quality of the job itself is this, I've had lads come out here over the years who'd give you a price on a Monday and have vanished by Wednesday, one crowd left the front of the house in a desperate state for three weeks before they even came back to finish, so when Andrew's crew showed up on the morning they said they would and just got on with it, that alone had me relieved, and the driveway and the path down the side of the house both came out very well I have to say, neat, solid, no complaints from the neighbours either which counts for something around here, the only thing I'd say, and it's a small thing, is that I had to ring to follow up on the quote rather than it coming to me, but once everything was agreed it moved along grand and I'd absolutely use them again without hesitation.
We had a fairly awkward L-shaped area at the back that we wanted properly paved — not just slabbed down in a rush, but done with decent materials and with the levels right so water doesn't pool near the back door. Andrew came out, had a proper look at the space, and suggested a style of paving that I hadn't originally considered but that works really well with the house. The finished result is genuinely lovely. Clean lines, solid underfoot, and the drainage runs exactly as it should. 😊 The crew were tidy throughout — no mess left at the end of each day, which matters when you have a dog and kids going in and out. Pricing was fair and transparent; no surprises when the final invoice came in. The patio has been down a few months now and there's no movement, no sinkage, nothing. It looks like it was always there. All in all, a job done properly by people who clearly know their work. 👌
We chose natural sandstone over porcelain for the rear patio — a decision I'd argue was the right one given the aesthetic of the house — and Andrew's team laid it with a level of care that you don't always see from contractors working at pace. The pointing is tight, the drainage fall is correct, and the whole area reads as considered rather than just functional. In fairness, the pricing was straightforward and nothing shifted between quote and invoice, which matters. I would recommend Emerald Drives without hesitation.
My neighbour used a different crowd two years ago and the edges were lifting within months. I was wary going again after that, but Andrew and his lads were entirely different — patient with my questions, no pressure, and the price was fair and clearly explained from the start. Being on my own I appreciated that. The resin driveway looks lovely and I have not had a single issue.
Andrew came out the following Tuesday to quote. Work was booked for two weeks later started on the Monday morning finished by Wednesday. The lads were in and out no fuss and the price was very fair. Such nice people made me feel safe having them around the house.
Got three quotes before going with Emerald Drives. Quoted €3,200 and that is exactly what I paid, no extras added on. Midway through the job the lads noticed the previous edging had been set too low on one side, causing water to pool toward the garage. They flagged it, suggested a fix, and sorted it without making a fuss or bumping the price. The finished driveway is neat and solid. I would recommend them, though I would say get everything agreed in writing beforehand as good practice with any contractor.
Such nice people Andrew and his lads. Id have them back any time and wouldnt hesitate to tell anyone to give Emerald driveways a ring
Had three people quote it before I went with Andrew, and I am glad I did. My daughter kept saying to get references first, which I did, and every one of them spoke well of him. The crew were tidy, the patio looks lovely, and I would not hesitate to use Emerald driveways again. A fair, honest outfit.
The invoice from emerald driveways was exactly what was quoted — no adjustments, no surprises at the end. As someone who runs his own business, that kind of clean billing matters more than most people realise.
Got three quotes, compared specs and timelines on a spreadsheet, even tested their booking system before committing — and honestly, none of that mattered the moment I saw the finished resin. Just stood there grinning like an eejit. Andrew's lads delivered exactly what the digital quote promised. Emerald driveways, no hesitation.
I dont usually bother writing these things but I wanted to say something specifically about Andy himself. He came out to price the patio, listened properly, didnt rush off, and was straight with me about what it would and wouldnt cost. No nonsense. That matters at my age. Would recommend Emerald Drives on that alone, fair enough.
I have lived in this house nearly forty years and the old path at the side was a disgrace — cracked and uneven for the last ten of them. When Andrew's lads, Ciarán and the younger fellow, were laying the new driveway they spotted that a section near the gate had a drainage issue underneath, old rubble sitting wrong from the original job. They sorted it quietly before laying anything over it, which I only appreciated when they explained it to me afterwards. The driveway itself is beautiful, lovely and flat, and the side path is now safe for my grandchildren when they visit. My daughter from Dublin said it has made the whole front of the house look years younger.
The space completely transformed — I dont even recognise the front of the house anymore and honestly that's the vision I had in my head from day one. Andrew and the lads laid the block paving so neatly, the pattern and the colour are just *chef's kiss*. Only thing I'd say is the cleanup at the end could've been a little more thorough, there was grit left along the border beds. But the driveway itself? Obsessed.
I'll tell you straight, I've had driveways done since the early sixties, everything from poured concrete to tarmac to whatever was fashionable at the time, so I know the difference between a job done properly and a job done quickly. Andy and his lads fall firmly into the first category. The reason I'd point any neighbour toward Emerald Drives without hesitation isn't any one thing — it's the whole manner of them. They show up when they say they will, they leave the place tidy, and they treat an older man's property with the same care they'd give their own. The gravel itself is settled well and looks well, which is all you want really. My one small gripe is that I'd have appreciated a bit more explanation upfront about what grade of stone was going down, but that's a minor thing and in no way spoiled the result. I would use them again without a second thought.
Honestly just relieved it's done and looks well. I was squeezing in calls to Andrew between school pickups and he was always easy to get hold of, which matters more than people realise. The gravel looks tidy and well finished. Only thing is the cleanup on the day wasn't the best — a bit of scatter left on the grass edge. Wouldnt put me off recommending them though. 👍
Got three quotes through different channels — one by phone, one by WhatsApp, Emerald through their online form. Andy responded faster and with more detail than the other two combined. That alone told me something.
The back garden is transformed at this point — and I mean genuinely transformed. We had a tired, cracked concrete area that had been an eyesore for years, and what Andrew and his team have laid down in its place is just beautiful. Proper Indian sandstone flags, nicely coursed, with tight, clean pointing throughout. The finish is completely level and the drainage falls away from the house exactly as it should.
A few things I want to mention specifically, because I think they matter: the lads were punctual every single morning, they cordoned off the work area so our dog couldn't get near the wet mortar, and they tidied up properly at the end of each day — no rubble left sitting around overnight. Andy called in himself on day two to check progress, which I appreciated.
The whole job took three days as quoted. No variation in price, no surprises. I'd absolutely recommend Emerald Driveways to anyone thinking about patio work. 😊 Would use them again without hesitation. 👌
Punctual to the day, which I'd highlight specifically — quoted a start date and held to it. Gravel finish looks well. Minor note: communication dropped briefly mid-week. Would recommend Emerald driveways.
So happy with how Andy and the lads handled the whole job from start to finish!! What I want to talk about specifically is the cleanup afterwards because honestly I was not expecting it at all — they literally left the place spotless!! Every bit of loose chipping swept back, the kerb edges tidied up, even the grass verge beside the gate was left looking neat!! I've heard horror stories from neighbours about contractors leaving muck and debris everywhere so this genuinely stood out to me!! The tar and chip itself looks absolutely gorgeous — proper country cottage vibes which is exactly what I wanted!! Only reason it's four stars and not five is they could have given a quicker heads up the morning they were coming out, I had to rearrange my whole car situation last minute!! But overall absolutely delighted — Emerald Driveways are the real deal!!
I will confine this review to a single matter, because I think it deserves to stand on its own: the punctuality and scheduling conduct of emerald driveways was, quite frankly, exceptional by any standard I have encountered in this trade. I set considerable store by timekeeping — it is, in my view, the first indicator of whether a contractor respects your time and, subsequently, your property. Andrew gave a start date, and the crew arrived on that date. Furthermore, when a second visit was required to complete the path edging, they returned on the morning specified without any prompting on my part. No chasing, no vague reassurances. For a man who spent the better part of his working life insisting on exactly this kind of professional discipline, that matters considerably.
Delighted with the standard of work by Andrew and his team. Extremely professional and prompt service. I would highly recommend Emerald Driveway. Thanks to all for s great job.
laneway looks well. andy sorted it no bother
Used to be in groundworks myself, so I know when a tar and chip finish has been laid properly — good aggregate spread, tight edges, fair price. Emerald Drives did it right.
Having had previous bad experiences with contractors who couldnt deliver on price or finish, emerald driveways were a genuine relief; fair cost, clean result, and I'd recommend them without hesitation.
granite looks well. andrew's lads were tidy and quick about it.
Third time we've used Emerald Driveways now, and this time it was a granite patio at the back of the house. What I want to say — because I don't think it gets mentioned enough — is how straightforward Andrew and the lads are to actually deal with. No messing, no vague promises, no not answering the phone. You ring, you get an answer. You ask a question, you get a straight one back. That kind of reliability is exactly why we keep coming back after the driveway they did in 2019 and the tar and chip at the side last year. The patio itself looks lovely and we're very happy with it. I'll knock off one star only because the start date shifted by a few days without much notice, which left us having to rearrange things. But that's a small thing. As ever, we'd have no hesitation going back to them.
Honestly, the driveway looks brilliant and Andrew's lads were in and out without any hassle — only thing was the finish date slipped by a day, which wasn't the end of the world but worth knowing if you're tight on time.
Honestly, the finished resin driveway speaks for itself. 😍 Andy and his lads were tidy, professional, and the price was very fair for what we got.
Third time we've used Emerald and they just keep delivering. Andrew did our back patio a few years back, then the side passage, and now the front driveway in block paving. Each job has been as good as the last. Honest pricing, tidy crew, no fuss. As ever, we wouldn't go anywhere else.
Being on my own, I'm careful about who I let work around the house. Andrew was straightforward from the start — gave me a fair price, didnt push me towards anything I didn't need, and the lads who came out were tidy and respectful throughout. The sandstone patio looks lovely, honestly better than I'd hoped. I'd have no hesitation ringing Emerald Drives again.
So happy with how this turned out!! Andrew came out the first week of March to quote, price was absolutely fair for what we were getting. Booked in for late April, crew arrived exactly on the agreed Monday morning. Took three days from start to finish — old surface lifted on day one, base prep and edging done day two, paving laid and finished day three. The patio looks absolutely stunning!! Literally no mess left behind either.
We'd been meaning to get the driveway sorted for the best part of four years, maybe longer if I'm honest. The house itself is a seventies build on the Knocknacarra side, and the original tarmac had seen better days — more cracks than surface at this stage, and every winter it got a little worse. My brother-in-law had got his done about two years back by some lads he found on a Facebook page, and it looked well enough for about eight months before it started lifting at the edges. That put me off rushing into anything. Then a neighbour two doors down had Emerald in to do a tar and chip job and I kept looking at it every time I passed. Held up through two winters already, neat edging, good stone colour that didn't look out of place with the house. Chalk and cheese compared to what my brother-in-law ended up with. I got a quote from Andrew and he was straight with me about what was involved, no flannel. The crew were here when they said they would be, had it done in a day, and left the place tidy. It's been down nearly a year now and it looks exactly as it did the week they finished. Would have no hesitation recommending them.
Having had previous bad experiences with contractors who left sites in a state — uneven edges, loose material, the whole lot — I did a fair amount of research before committing to anyone this time around. Emerald driveways came up consistently well in local recommendations, and having spoken to Andrew beforehand, I felt confident enough to go ahead. What struck me most, once the work was completed, was the finish; the driveway itself sits cleanly against the boundary edge, the path leading to the side gate is level and properly graded, and the whole thing feels considered rather than rushed. There is no pooling where there used to be, which was my primary functional concern, and aesthetically it has transformed the front of the house to a degree I hadn't quite anticipated. The crew worked methodically and left the site tidy at the end of each day — a detail that sounds minor but matters enormously when you are living in the house throughout. I compared several quotes before decidng on Emerald driveways, and on balance the pricing was fair relative to the quality of materials and the standard of finish delivered. I would recommend them without hesitation to anyone in the Tipperary area looking for reliable, well-executed driveway or path work.
Hi love my work carried out by Emerald Driveways on my driveway it is a beautiful job staff was so helpful & talk me through ever minute off them working on the drive well done to the team 👏
Highly recommended Emerald Driveways really satisfied with there work. Thanks Andrew
Emerald Driveway have just finished our driveway. We went for tarmac with a brick surround. We are absolutely thrilled with the results. In total it took them 1.5 days start to finish, that included digging up our concrete drive and disposing of same. The lads were here on time, worked tirelessly, were polite and left the place spotless. I would have have no hesitation in recommending the entire team. Thanks again lads for a super job !! 👍
Andrew and his workers done a great job on our driveway. Price was excellent compared to other quotes. All worked completed in 2 days. Removed all waste and proper job done on driveway. Highly recommend
Very happy with my driveway done by Andrew and his lads
Very satisfied with job. Highly recommend them to any one
I had my front and back garden re-levelled, new top soil put down and roll out turf laid. Andrew and his team were very reliable from the start. The job was completed in less than two days and I would recommend them highly. Lovely lad to deal with and nothing was a problem. They cleaned up well after themselves and left everything very tidy. Thanks a million for doing a great job
I run a few rental properties around Tipperary and I've used Emerald Driveways twice now — once in Cashel and once closer to the town. Andy came out both times, priced the jobs fairly and without any of the flannel you sometimes get from contractors. The crews showed up when they said they would, which honestly matters more to me than most things. Clean invoices, no surprise additions at the end. From a straightforward business standpoint, that's half the battle won. The tarmac itself is holding well on both properties and the tenants haven't been on to me about it, so I'll take that as a good sign. Only thing I'd say is that the turnaround time between quote and start date was a bit longer than I'd hoped on the second job. Nothing that caused a problem, but worth flagging. I'd have no hesitation pointing other landlords or business owners in their direction.
Andrew and his crew did our tar and chip last autumn and we have had zero complaints since. Good company, honest pricing, and I would go back to them without hesitation.
Had amazing work done by Andrew and his team of men! Would most certainly recommend! Excellent job lads well done!
Quote came back within two days of ringing them. Scheduling took about three weeks, which was fine. Crew arrived on the Monday as agreed, dug out the existing surface, laid the base, and had the tar and chip down by Wednesday afternoon. Three days in total for a decent-sized drive at the front and side of the house. Price was fair — not the cheapest quote I got, but in the middle, and it included the kerbing. The finish looks well and has held up through a wet few months since. One thing I'd say: communication between jobs could be a bit tighter. I had to ring Andrew on the Tuesday to find out what time they'd be back after lunch rather than being told. Wouldnt put me off using them again, but it kept this at four stars rather than five.
Andrew called back within the hour, which honestly I wasn't expecting at all, anyway that alone had me sold before he even quoted me.
Andrew came and priced the job within a week ,,, completed the job asap for me ,,, extremely professional, helpful and noting was a problem , would highly recommend Andrew and his fantastic team of workers ! I absolutely love my tarmac !!!
I would highly recommend these guys, very professional, and did excellent job. Thank you very much guys
The old tarmac was breaking up badly — patches, cracks, subsidence near the gate — so I decided to go the whole way with concrete rather than resurface again in a few years. Got a few quotes around Tipperary and went with Emerald Driveways based on Andrew's pricing and the fact that he was straightforward about what the job actually involved.
Work started on the Tuesday as agreed and the groundworks were done by end of day Wednesday. The concrete pour went down Thursday morning. Andrew had mentioned a curing window of around five to six days before we could drive on it, and that held accurate — we were back on the driveway the following Thursday without issue.
The finished surface is clean and level. The edging along the boundary wall is tighter than I expected, and the fall toward the street drains properly — no pooling after rain, which was a problem with the old surface. The crew worked tidily; they cleared the site each evening and there was no materal left on the road or footpath.
Honestly, there is not much drama to report here. It is a concrete driveway. It looks like a well-done concrete driveway, which is exactly what I paid for. Andrew communicated clearly throughout and the timeline was accurate. Overall, the job was handled competently from start to finish. I would use them again for other work.
New driveway and patio done by Emerald driveways last month. The finish is sharp — clean edges, good drainage, no loose material anywhere. Punctual. Tidy site at the end of each day. Andrew was straightforward to deal with, no messing. The patio in particular looks well, much better than I expected for the price. Wouldnt hesitate to use them again.
So the timeline here is actually what sold me on writing this review, because I think it tells you everything about how Emerald Drives operates. I first messaged Andy on a Tuesday evening in early March — not expecting a reply until the next morning — and he came back to me on WhatsApp within about forty minutes. We went back and forth a few times that same night, I sent him some photos of the space we were working with, and by Thursday he had come out to have a look in person. Quoted me shortly after that. Grand.
Work was booked in for the second week of April. The crew arrived on the Monday morning at the time Andy had said they would, which already put them ahead of a previous contractor I'd used for something else entirely. The patio area itself is at the back of the house — not a huge space but awkward enough, with a slight drop at one corner that I'd honestly just learned to live with over the years.
What I didn't know — and the lads spotted fairly quickly on the first morning — was that there was an old drainage channel running underneath that section which had partially collapsed at some point, probably long before we moved in. They flagged it to Andy, Andy rang me, and we had a quick chat about the options. It wasn't a massive undertaking to sort it, they dealt with it that same day before laying anything down, and it wasn't even a big addition to the overall cost. The alternative would have been paving over a problem that would have caused subsidence eventually, so I was genuinely glad they caught it rather than just pressing on.
The finished patio looks really well. Clean lines, solid underfoot, the colour of the paving we chose works nicely with the back of the house. They tidied up properly before they left on the final afternoon, which sounds like a low bar but you'd be surprised.
The only thing I'd flag — and it's minor — is that communication in the middle stretch of the job went a bit quiet. I sent a WhatsApp on the Wednesday afternoon asking a small question and didn't hear back until Friday morning. Everything was fine, it just left me slightly in the dark for a day or two. Four stars rather than five for that reason, but honestly the work itself was done well and I'd use them again without hesitation.
Andrew has a great business which is reliable and provides a very good quality service. The lads who work with Andrew are professional and friendly. I am really happy with the finished product. It has surpassed my expectation and I cannot recommend them highly enough. Thank you Andrew and team for our beautiful tarmac drive and tar n' chip back.
Got a quote from Andy in early April — straightforward, no hard sell. Scheduled for late May, crew arrived on the Monday as arranged. Two days to complete, which included lifting the old concrete, laying a sand base and setting the new paving. Finished by Wednesday afternoon. The edging is neat and the drainage fall looks right to me. The one thing I would say is that communication mid-job could be a bit clearer — nobody told me they were knocking off early on day one. Minor enough, but worth mentioning. Good outfit overall.
Dreaded this job for months — convinced it would be a nightmare to organise. Andrew put me at ease straight away and honestly, if that is the only reason to call Emerald Drives, it would be enough. But the driveway itself is what really sold me. Clean, neat, done on time. I would not hesitate to use them again and have already passed the number on to my sister.
you guys, seriously 🙌 the driveway looks so so good — clean edges, lovely smooth finish, the whole front of the house is transformed! andrew and the lads were in and out no fuss at all. already posted pics to the neighbourhood facebook group and everyone wants the number ✨ so happy we went with emerald, worth every cent ❤️
